I’m a gloss freak!  I’m totally about achieving the right lip liner and lip gloss look. Gimme a lip gloss that reflects light and makes my lips sing like Lancome Juicy Tubes in Miracle and I’ll be your BFF. Call me adventurous because I also wear MAC Cosmetics Lipglass in C-Thru to add slight dimension with a dash of Alcone NY Lip Lacquer in Clear to top it off.  My lip gloss recipe apparently worked because I was just asked about it recently by a few people. Who knew that looking good could be this infectious?

I think that actress Garcelle Beauvais did since this is a look she frequently pulls off with such ease. Gotta love her. I always say, don’t fix what ain’t broken.  If I had known 10 years ago that lip gloss (sans the lip liner) was all I needed to complete my overall natural makeup look, then I could have done without my experiences circa 1999.

Picture it. My best gay calls me a drag queen. He was right because I looked a hot mess. Imagine lavender (not burgundy or purple) eyeshadow, lavender lipstick with slightly darker matching lip liner, thick mascara and unshaped eyebrows. Okay I’ll say it for you, eeeeww! I thought I was sporting a cool makeup look. I missed it by a long shot. My friend’s comment hurt but I knew it was time to scale back. Introducing the new me: a touch of blush, mascara, lip liner and lip gloss. Geez, I thought I had learned my lesson, but according to my sister, dark lip liner was still my downfall. I couldn’t let it go! My sister made it her life’s mission to get me to put down the way-too-dark lip liner, so I acquiesced. I tried a neutral-toned lip liner, but sis still wasn’t happy. Now what? My mom even chimed in about how crazy I looked, and she doesn’t even wear makeup. Enough with  the opinions already! I needed help.

Get the picture now? I was a walking DON’T for far too long. I thought I looked fine, but evidently, I didn’t and my family just couldn’t take it anymore. And then I had an “aha” moment.  I tried freshening up my lips with my lip liner and gloss while I was out with friends one night. The lip liner wasn’t in my purse so I had to go without. Low and behold, I loved how I looked and so I figured it out … no lipliner necessary unless it’s the right shade  of neutral or it’s invisible like Lipstick Queen Invisible Lip Liner.  This stuff is fantastic because it works for all skin tones! Hallelujah!

I’m just happy that I finally got it so I can help you avoid the pitfalls of bad makeup. A special gift from me to you.
