4 All Natural Facial Cleansers

A marketing trick? Not so much. All-natural skin care means that the majority of the ingredients within that product are made with botanically-sourced ingredients like aloe vera, witch hazel, tea tree oil, jojoba, rose hips seed oil, shea butter and the list goes on and on.

Natural skin care products are ideal for people with sensitive skin, skin that has adverse reactions to the chemicals found in mainstay skin care like parabens, which act like preservatives to extend that product’s shelf-life, phthalates – so not easy to pronouce which, according to the Department of Health and Human Services has classified DEHP as a potential carcinogen (madefromtheearth.com) and synthetic fragrances to name a few.

Alba Botanica Good & Clean Daily Detox Foaming Cleanser ($8.99, albabotanica.com) is a bottle of gentle loveliness. It contains 10 Alpha Hydroxy Acid-rich botanicals along with green tea and rice which detexofies and soothes your pores.

Straight out of South Africa is Savane Organic Soothing Cleanser ($42, zaega.com, shen-beauty.com) – a brand that blends green science with traditional knowledge, which simply means you get to experience some of Africa’s unique botanicals and powerful natural antioxidants (essential fatty acids omegas 3, 6 and 9) in their most potent form. ‘Soothing’ contains Rooibos which reduces free radical damage and Aloe ferox which soothes your skin – a combination that helps maintain your skin’s health and keeps it hydrated.

A fellow skin care therapist created the biao skin care line of products with each product being “handcrafted and packaged with post-consumer recycled cardboard, glass and plastic.” While biao Beauty Rejuvenating Cleanser ($18, biaoskincare.com) is free of synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, Triclosan and GMO’s (Genetically Modified Organisms), this cleanser does contain Green Tea, Avocado and Palm Rosa Oil which help protect yoru skin from environmental stress and premature aging as it gently rinses away dirt and grime.

One of the most commonly known natural ingredients, shea butter is the star of SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Facial Wash & Scrub ($9.99, target.com). ‘Shea’ is a cocoa butter-rich and shea butter scrub that unclogs pores, moisturizes, heals and rejuvenates dry skin. ‘Shea’ also contains Frankincense & Myrrh which calms inflamed skin as it breathes life back into dull-looking skin.
