New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter runways were littered with beauty looks ranging from bold vibrant hues to statement-making goth-approved deep shades.

SHOW: Philipp Plein
LEAD ARTIST: Yadim for Maybelline New York
INSPIRATION
For Philipp Plein’s first show at New York Fashion Week, Yadim for Maybelline New York wanted to speak to the individuality of each of the models and personalities that were cast. To do so, he creates a unique, empowering look for each model in the show, focusing on either a graphic eye or statement lip – or both. All of the looks encompass the colors that are seen in the collection – from blacks to reds to pewter grays – and some are even offset with facial embellishments to match.

SHOW: Badgley Mischka
LEAD ARTIST: Alice Lane for Inglot Cosmetics
INSPIRATION
“My inspiration for this look is graceful winter beauty,” said Alice Lane, lead makeup artist sponsored by INGLOT. “The look is bold but still refined. The eyes sparkle and the cheeks are flushed to give the effect of a winter walk in the forest. Inspiration comes from soft pillows, velvet slippers, log fires and red wine.”
GET THE LOOK
EYES: “The color on the eye is a direct inspiration from the delicate embroidery of the dresses,” says Alice. The glossy eye look was created using INGLOT Freedom System Eye Shadows in #08 Ə with INGLOT’s High Gloss Lip Oil in #01 on the center of the lid. INGLOT Kohl Pencil in #05 (nude) was used on the waterline to brighten and open the eye. INGLOT Brow Shaping Mascara created “Full brows that feel luxurious and elegant.”
LIPS: “Velvet slippers were my inspiration for the lips,” says Alice. “The lips are matte and applied in layers. Eye Shadow has been pressed into lipstick for a fabric-like effect.” Alice created the velvet matte lip using INGLOT Soft Precision Lip Liner in #61 and INGLOT Lipstick #295. She finished with INGLOT Freedom System Eyeshadow #450 pressed on top for added texture.
SKIN: Fresh, dewy skin was created using INGLOT AMC Foundation and INGLOT Freedom System HD Highlighter Trio in #103 & #101. The bright flushed cheeks were achieved using INGLOT AMC Freedom System Blush #69. Alice shares that “the skin is hydrated and natural. Rich highlights sculpt the high points of the face.”

SHOW: Eckhaus Latta
LEAD ARTIST: Kanako Takase for Guerlain
INSPIRATION
“For the beauty look at Eckhaus Latta Fall/Winter 2017, we were inspired by the natural beauty of the skin and focused on maintaining its simplicity and radiance. Since the collection has so many bright colors, we added freehand fingerpaint in unusual shapes and areas of the face to represent and highlight the collection.” – Kanako Takase, Guerlain Lead Makeup Artist
GET THE LOOK
Step 1: Use Guerlain L’Or Primer mixed with Météorites Baby Glow all over the face for a slight radiance and tint, without making the skin glossy.
Step 2: On the cheeks and forehead, use Terracotta Sun Trio to add contour and dimension to the face. Next, perfect and mattify the skin with Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Compact all over the face.
Step 3: Use Météorites Compact Powder and the Precious Light Rejuvenating Illuminator on the bridge of the nose, forehead, corner of the eyes, cheekbones and chin to enhance and illuminate.
In order to complement the bright colors of the collection, Kanako used fingerpaint in unusual shapes and places on the face. “We didn’t want it to look thought out, but rather accidental and placed in areas that makeup is not traditionally applied.”

SHOW: Alice + Olivia
LEAD ARTIST: Erin Parsons for Maybelline New York
INSPIRATION
Alice + Olivia’s FW 2017 show was inspired by Salman Rushdie’s The Enchantress of Florence, which tells the story of a mysterious woman who uses her powers of enchantment to control her own destiny in a man’s world. The collection combines romance with an edge, and Erin Parsons for Maybelline New York brought that to life in by using hints of metallics to juxtapose soft burgundy and rosegold makeup.
