Trend Watch: Hot Pink Lip Color
A hot pink lip color isn’t just reserved for edgy pop rock princesses like FeFe Dobson. You could also be the soft-spoken, talented actress that is Sanaa Lathan and pull off the same look with ease. Even Oscar-winning actress, Sandra Bullock (not pictured here) got in on the trend at this year’s award show. I happen to think she was wearing a pink lip color, other’s say red. Whatever the color, she was stunning. To make you look like a superstar for the night, all it takes is finding the right shade of pink. While shopping the market, I looked for lipstick brands that could produce what you see here, I determined quickly that Max Factor was it.
If you have fair skin like Febe’s lips, choose a pale pink shade like Max Factor Vivid Impact Lipcolor in Ms. Understood . If you have a warmer skin tone like Sanaa’s, a medium to deep shade of pink is the best choice – I suggest Max Factor Vivid Impact Lipcolor in Pin Up Pink (available at Duane Reade stores).
But the fun doesn’t stop there. You need a lipliner to keep your lipstick from bleeding and I found a cool colorless lip pencil called Too Faced Borderline Anti-Feathering Lip Pencil ($18.50, ulta.com). It locks your lipstick in place. Gotta love that. Just do yourself a favor and keep a tissue handy to wipe off any excess lipstick during the application process, but you always dab a little extra color on the center of your lips because color tends to wipe away quickest.
Here are some tips to keep your lips lookin’ hot like these sexy celebs:
Tip 1: Bright lip colors are best in either matte or creamy formulas.
Tip 2: Dab concealer on your lips and follow by applying your lipstick with the Dior Lip Brush ($19.50, sephora.com). Applying concealer beforehand makes your lip color last longer.
Hue Knew It? I did.
