Medicated Concealers That Cover & Treat Blemishes

Conceal As It Heals: The Remedy for Blemished Beauty

Although we’d like to think that Ugly Betty’s, Ms. Vanessa Williams is picture perfect, I’m sure she’d be the first to tell you that she, too, gets blemishes. Maybe she can relate to how I felt when I discovered a huge bump (cyst, which forms under the skin) forming on my chin. Oh, hell no! This can’t be happening. I am entirely too cute for this nonsense, I thought. I haven’t had to conceal a pimple in so long, and I mean in months since I’ve been going to the dermatologist, but on that day, it was a different story. That’s okay, because I knew that I’d recover quickly from my temporary misfortune. All I needed to do was to find a concealer that would cover my bump while treating it at the same time.

Luckily, I had a few bucks to spend, so knowing that there were plenty of medicated concealers on the market for me to choose from at every price point was reassuring. I ended up with Disappear by Jane Iredale – The Skin Care Makeup. At $24 it’s hardly cheap, but it did a heck of a job of concealing/treating my itty, bitty flaw until I was able to get to my doc’s office. It’s so thick, it even covers black tattoos. And with ingredients like green tea and seaweed, I knew I’d be cured in no time.

If you ever find yourself in the same “bumpy” dilemma as myself, and don’t have $24 bucks to spend, no sweat. You can just spend $13.50 for Clinique’s NEW Acne Solutions Clearing Concealer and get the same result I did. It provides a more natural-looking coverage. You can even wear Clinique’s concealer alone or under foundation. If money’s tight, don’t count yourself out of the beauty equation just yet. Maybelline sells a concealer stick called Pure Concealer by Maybelline at Ulta.com for only $2.99. I know, I could hardly believe it either when I found this deal. While it can’t really cover a tattoo, it does camouflage and treat your blemish with ingredients like salicylic acid and Aloe. I do love a bargain ladies.

Now, let’s figure out the best color for your complexion. Pale/alabaster skin tones should use light beige with yellow undertones. Olive skin tones should use medium beige with pink undertones. And for sisters with deeper complexions, use medium to medium dark shades with peach undertones.

We’re not done yet. I still have to give you a few easy steps to applying concealer:

First, make sure your skin is moisturized. Then, use your finger or flat concealer brush to gently pat product onto the area you want covered. Next, softly blend. Just remember to not pack it on so thick if natural-looking is what you’re after.

Until next time.

Hue Knew It? I did.
