Girl’s Night Out: How To Create An Evening Makeup Look

For a night out with your girlfriends in the city where what happens there, stays there – good ol’ Las Vegas, learning how to create an evening makeup look so you step out looking no less than amazing is rule #1, just check out actor girlfriends Sanaa Lathan and Nia Long. Rule #2 is to soak up everything the Aria hotel has to offer: swanky décor, a luxurious pool and beyond enough amenities – what more could a girl wish for?

Lucky for you and your precious high heels, you won’t have to travel far to get into trouble because both Sage Restaurant and Haze Nightclub are located right on the property. Let the games begin!

Now the only question that remains is what is your “look” for the night? Sexy is only the way to go…check out this how-to:

Step 1: I start off by defining your brow with Joey Healy’s Luxe Brow Powder in Raven ($28, joeyhealy.com). A neatly groomed and beautifully defined brow sets the tone for a sultry smoky look.

Step 2: Next, it’s all about priming the lids so that eye shadows stay put and don’t crease or move throughout the evening. Apply Laura Geller Eye & Lip Spackle Duo ($25, laurageller.com) to your lids using your ring finger.

Now let’s get down to the business of creating a gorgeous smoky eye…

Step 3: Using Nyx Cosmetics Jumbo Eye Pencil in Purple Velvet ($4.50, nyxcosmetics.com) as a base, smudge the shadow on the lower lid making sure to get close to the lash line as possible. With your finger or your favorite crease brush, gently blend the shadow into the lid. Next, use a flat shadow brush and apply theBalm Shameless Shana Eye Shadow ($16, thebalm.com) onto the lower lid, carefully patting the color into the lid to get the most intense color payoff.

Step 4: Dip your crease brush into MakeUp For Ever Artist Shadow in Eggplant, ($21, Sephora.com) and gently blend into the NYX Cosmetics Jumbo Eye Pencil in Purple Velvet for a smooth, seamless transition. To round off the smoky look, take a small angled shadow brush and apply Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Shadow in Champagne ($22, BobbiBrownCosmetics.com) underneath your brow. Make sure to use a blender brush to glide over all of the shadows for an effortlessly chic, yet sultry effect.

Step 5: Before moving on to foundation and blush, clean under and around my eyes using a Burt’s Bees Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleansing Towel ($6, BurtsBees.com).

TIP: Wipes are a great way to remove dark eye shadow from underneath the eye.

Step 6: Next is your foundation. Add a few drops of MAC Lustre Drops in Barbados Girl ($40, MAC Cosmetics.com) to your Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation in Cashew Beige ($45, LauraMercier.com) and mix. Then apply it with a kabuki brush for an even, streak-free application.

Step 7: Dust Tarte Cosmetics Airblush Marajuca Blush ($26, tartecosmetics.com) on the apples of your cheeks and your just about ready to paint the town red.

Step 8: Lastly, apply Laura Geller Eye & Lip Spackle Duo ($25, laurageller.com) onto your lips as a base and to even the color out. Next, line your lips with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($20, UrbanDecay.com). Finish by applying  Maybelline Color Sensational The Buffs Lip Color in Stormy Sahara, ($7.49, Maybelline.com). Blot with tissue and repeat again for lips that will stay put all night.
