The Buzz

Hue Noir's mission is to highlight the beauty  of women from fair to deep skin tone by blending color, science, and technology with luxurious innovations. Founded by product chemist, Paula Hayes was inspired to develop this collection because of the challenges she found in finding suitable makeup that enhanced her complexion.

Hue Noir was founded by Paula Hayes, a product chemist and a woman of color inspired by the challenge of finding quality cosmetics that matched her complexion. Every formula is calibrated with multicultural women in mind, all providing skin nourishment and brilliant hues that deliver rich pigment payoff. The formulas are long wearing with an oil-absorbing transparent or opaque finish.

Launched across the country on April 18, Hue Noir introduced 20 dark shades of the True Hues Flawless Foundation on Target.com. The foundation will also be available in select Target stores nationwide on May 20.

Why You'll Love It

I had hoped to try the much talked about foundations so I could really give an opinion, but unfortunately it wasn't in stock when my PR request was submitted. What I was sent were three lipsticks in Berry Dangerous, Fighting Temptation, and A Rage in Raisin I was initially excited because the berry shades that I chose appeared super deep on the website and I expected to rock them soon after receiving them. I was let down. While the formulations are as described, velvety soft and lightweight, the color chip on the tube, which should accurately identify the shade you will see once the tube is opened, and should also represent what is on the website. Not so. What I received were pretty colors, but nothing particularly vibrant. With that said, however, I do like a bolder, super colorful lip, and perhaps this collection is meant for women who prefer shades a bit more delicate.
