• Straps shouldn’t do all the work. the support comes from the band, not the straps. If your band is too big, you’ll end up tightening your straps to compensate, which will result in too much pressure on your shoulders.

• Check the coverage. There shouldn’t be excess spillage out of the cups. If you’re falling out or seeing a bumpy shape under your clothes, your cup size is probably too small. Try sizing up for a flattering, more natural looking fit.

• Extra fabric. If the fabric of your cup is wrinkling or baggy, the cup size is too big. Try sizing down.

• No gaps, please! You bra should lie flat against your chest between the cups. It should not lie on top of your breast tissue. If there’s a large gap, you may need to go up a cup size.

• Make sure your band is snug and goes straight across your back.  If the band is arching or riding up it usually means that the band is too big and the cup is too small.

• Underwires shouldn’t dig. They should lie flat against you. If it’s digging into any breast tissue or poking you under the arm, you’re probably wearing the wrong size.

What to look for in a bra

There are several different styles of bras: seamless, pushup, contour, molded, plunge, wire-free, long-line, strapless, balconette, demi and the list goes on.  No matter what style you choose a proper fit will ensure that you look and feel great in your undergarment.  Ensure that your band is snug and lying flat and straight around your body. Make sure you are not bulging out of the cup or band. Finally make sure that the center of the bra is tacking and the straps are not digging.
